Sedation Dentistry
If you have been putting off dental treatment due to fear and anxiety, then Nitrous oxide sedation can be your savior. Medicated and regulated amount of Nitrous oxide is used to make you feel more relaxed during your dental treatment.
Patients usually choose sedation for very complex dental treatments or surgery, including wisdom tooth removal or dental implants.
Before the procedure
Fasting will be required before the procedure. No meals / drinks should be taken within 2 hours of the procedure.
During the procedure
Nitrous oxide sedation is given in the dental chair. You will breathe the sedation gas through a small nosepiece that sits on your nose. It does not cover the mouth. The nitrous oxide makes you feel sleepy and relaxed. You will still be aware of what is happening around, but can feel dreamy and floaty, warm, or have tingling in hands and feet.
While giving the nitrous oxide, the dentist will monitor the level of sedation to ensure that you can still cooperate and follow verbal instructions.
The dental treatment will be carried out. Local anaesthesia injections may also be given so that you don't feel pain. These can be given while you are sedated.
After the procedure
