Dental Implants

Dental ImplantsA dental implant is a long-term solution for a missing tooth. It is a screw-like piece of titanium metal, implanted into the jaw to replace a missing tooth. Bone gradually grows around the implant, so the implant becomes permanent. Once the bone has grown around the implant and it is established, a crown (artificial tooth) is custom-made to perfectly match your other teeth and is securely attached to the implant, filling the gap and looking like a natural tooth.

Success rates of dental implants is variable. It depends on where it is placed in the jaw and how well you look after it. Dental implants can be expected to last 15-20 years and in some cases can last a lifetime.

Other uses for Implants

In addition to being used for replacement of single teeth, dental implants can also be used to hold a dental bridge (replace 2 or more adjacent missing teeth) or dentures in place.
